Director of Dental Services (Dentist I)
Job Description: Hiram W. Davis Medical Center (HWDMC), a patient centered team of professionals located near Petersburg, Virginia, is recruiting for a Director of Dental Services (Dentist I) position. This is an excellent opportunity to join a progressive team of professionals in an 87-bed Joint Commission accredited Skilled, Intermediate, and General-Medical hospital.
This position: provides clinical dental services within the realm of general dentistry and gives health education information and specialty referrals if needed to for individuals of Hiram W. Davis Medical Center (HDMC), Southside Virginia Training Center (SVTC), Central State Hospital (CSH) and Region IV; supervises the operations of the dental clinic; supervises and evaluates the performance of the dental staff; and participates as a member of the facility’s management team in planning, organizing and evaluating services.
Requirements: Must have: experience in standards of care and updates in clinical dentistry i.e. principles, and practices of dental management, preventive, corrective dentistry and oral hygiene; experience with management process and clinic operations; knowledge of OSHA and Infection Control requirements; knowledge of HIPAA and Confidentiality policies; knowledge of dental law; ability to diagnose and treat dental deficiencies under local anesthesia, conscious sedation or general anesthesia (conscious sedation and general anesthesia are performed by anesthesiologist); ability to apply modern methods and practices of four-handed dentistry and oral surgery; ability to communicate effectively and maintain accurate records; ability to relate to individuals who reside at SVTC, CSH and HWDMC; and willingness to be flexible in addressing the myriad of issues related to supporting the mentally ill and developmentally disabled population.
Graduation from an accredited school of dentistry; possession of valid D.D.S degree; current Virginia Dentist license; DEA license; and current CPR Certification is also required.
Salary Range: Negotiable - Pay Band 6
