Plumber/Steamfitter (Trades Technician III)

Job Description: Southside Virginia Training Center (SVTC), a residential facility located near Petersburg, VA, is recruiting for a Plumber/Steamfitter. SVTC’s primary mission is to provide quality, client-centered health and habilitative services to individuals with intellectual disabilities. In pursuing the client-centered approach, staff from various disciplines work as a team with the individual and his/her legally authorized representative to address the individual needs, goals, choices and preferences.

The position is responsible for performing plumbing and steam fitting maintenance tasks, trouble-shooting techniques, and plumbing and steam fitting repairs in support of building renovation projects. The position also installs, repairs, and replaces pipes, fittings, and plumbing fixtures in support of heating, water, gas, and plumbing systems. The position is also required to repair underground piping systems and building equipment and controls. Successful applicants will possess a full range of knowledge in the areas of Plumbing and Steam Fitting repair, diagnostic procedures, and programmed and emergency maintenance tasks. Applicants must be skilled in the use of trade tools and equipment and possess the ability to read and interpret blue prints, building specifications, and work flow procedures.

Requirements: Graduation from high school or GED certification is preferred. Possession of a valid Virginia driver's license is required. Completion of a Plumbing/Steamfitter course from a technical school and possession of a Journeyman’s Card is preferred. Graduation from a trade school and/or considerable experience in the Plumbing and Steam Fitting trade is preferred.

Salary: $25,000 minimum, Pay Band 03
