Physical Therapy (Therapist III)

Job Description: Southside Virginia Training Center (SVTC), a residential care facility for people with mental retardation/developmental disabilities located near Petersburg, VA, is accepting applications for a Physical Therapist (PT). SVTC serves individuals with severe and profound mental retardation. Services, provided by caring employees, are client centered, highly individualized and functional, in an environment that nurtures growth and development. Job duties will include, but are not limited to: evaluate, recommend, provide, and supervise physical therapy services as referred by physicians for the clients and document the same. Provide in-services to all levels of staff, including support services to community personnel. Supervise Licensed Physical Therapy Assistants, Physical Therapy Technicians and Physical Therapy students as assigned.

Requirements: Applicants must demonstrate ability to interpret and follow written and/or verbal instructions (i.e. physician’s orders); develop therapy programs and provide guidance to LPTA’s, PT Technicians, and to direct care staff. Applicants should possess the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing to all levels of internal and external customers. Applicants must be a graduate from an accredited school of Physical Therapy and licensed, or eligible for licensure in the State of Virginia (within 6 months of employment). Knowledge and/or experience in the area of developmental disabilities, long term care, adaptive/specialized seating. Computer skills are a plus.

Salary: $50,000 minimum, Pay Band 5
