Occupational Therapist III
                (Position Multiple)

Job Description: Southside Virginia Training Center (SVTC), a residential support facility for individuals with mental retardation/developmental disabilities, located near Petersburg, Virginia, is recruiting for multiple Occupational Therapist III positions. Services, provided by caring employees, are client centered, highly individualized and functional, in an environment that nurtures growth and development. These positions will provide evaluation, consultative and therapeutic activities related to the delivery of OT services, plan and develop OT treatment programs to clients in a MR/DD environment. Duties involve providing direct OT services to clients to include assessments; therapy; individual treatment planning; program planning; in-service training; and implementation; and related documentation, monitoring and communication. Some positions will serve as swallowing therapists responsible for services related to dysphagia/nutritional management.

Requirements: Competitive applicant will possess working knowledge of the principles of OT theory related to evaluation and therapy. Knowledge of and/or abilities in program development and interfacing with other disciplines. Demonstrated ability in evaluating clients, designing of treatment plans, communicating effectively orally and in writing, and fabricating splints and adaptive equipment. Graduation from an accredited OT program, certification with NBCOT, licensed by the VA State Board of Medicine or eligible to receive licensure within a 3-month period. Previous experience with the MR/DD population, working with program development and treatment planning, dysphagia management, and splinting preferred.

Salary: $55,000 minimum, Pay Band 5
