Licensed Practical Nurse
                (Position: Multiple)

Job Description: Southside Virginia Training Center (SVTC), a residential care facility for people with mental retardation/developmental disabilities located near Petersburg, VA, is accepting applications for Licensed Practical Nurses. SVTC serves individuals with severe and profound mental retardation. Services, provided by caring employees, are client centered, highly individualized and functional, in an environment that nurtures growth and development. These positions will be responsible for providing quality-nursing care to promote optimum health and disease prevention. Administering and documenting prescribed medications and treatments, transcribing and implementing physicians’ orders accurately, observing clients for signs and symptoms of illness and injury, documenting all pertinent information pertaining to the health care of the clients initiating communication with the physician, registered nurse, and other team members.

Requirements: Graduation from an approved school of Practical Nursing, knowledge of basic nursing skills to include administering and documenting prescribes medications and treatments, good interpersonal/communication skills. Valid Virginia Practical/Nursing License and/or eligible for the licensure exam in Virginia which authorizes the candidate to practice in Virginia for a period not to exceed 90 days between completion of the nursing education program and the results of the first licensing examination. Previous experience in basic nursing is strongly preferred. Previous experience with MR/DD population preferred.

Salary: $25,000 minimum, Pay Band 03
